TROY, MI, April 6, 2016 – Troy, Michigan-based intellectual property law firm Young Basile Hanlon & MacFarlane, P.C. announced today that Ryan McCleary has been elected a shareholder in the firm.

Mr. McCleary concentrates his practice on intellectual property and litigation matters. He regularly handles matters in the fields of video compression and transport, cloud computing, computer software, networking, industrial controls and electronics. A large part of his practice focuses on patent-related matters, including patent portfolio management and invention harvesting, opinions relating to infringement and validity, due diligence / portfolio acquisition, and contested matters including in District Court, the International Trade Commission and as co-counsel in German nullity and infringement proceedings. Mr. McCleary has also handled a wide variety of other intellectual property matters, including those relating to trademarks, domain names and trade secrets. Mr. McCleary has also represented a number of companies in various commercial and employment litigation matters
Prior to joining Young Basile, Mr. McCleary managed the information technology and human resources functions at a Tier 1 automotive supplier. Before that, he held key engineering roles at various Tier 1 automotive suppliers and clerked for one year at a major automotive manufacturer. His technical background and experience is multi-disciplinary and includes software architecture, software programming, database design, electronic data interchange, wire harness design, industrial controls & networks, embedded software programming and embedded computer design. He also has experience in automotive quality, logistics and inventory control.
Mr. McCleary received his Juris Doctor in 2011 and his LLM in Intellectual Property in 2014. He received his bachelor of science degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from Kettering University in 2004. He is a Six Sigma greenbelt, certified by the American Society of Quality and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.
