Young Basile Hanlon & MacFarlane, P.C. announced that it hired Abhik Huq as the latest addition to its growing Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office and telecom practice.

Mr. Huq focuses his practice on securing patents in a wide variety of industries and technologies for domestic and international clients. He has prepared and prosecuted domestic and foreign patent applications related to wireless technologies including UMTS, LTE, LTE-A and IoT related standards, computer hardware and software, wearable technologies, electro-optics, electronic component design and manufacturing, mobile devices, medical devices, semiconductor manufacturing and fuel cell optimization for electric vehicles. He has counseled clients on licensing agreements, patent portfolio strategies, due diligence and assertion efforts. He has drafted licensing agreements, development agreements, letters of intent, non-disclosure agreements and other related documentation. Mr. Huq previously worked as in-house counsel at a large research and development company. He brings both in-house and private practice perspectives to all matters.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Huq worked as radar systems engineer at a large multi-national corporation. He worked on the development of the AEGIS Weapons system and was a lead engineer for the development and evaluation of specific subsystems of the weapons system.
Abhik received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Kansas in 1986, He received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University in 1989, and he received his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers-Camden School of Law in 1993. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New York and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
