After two hours of deliberations, a jury returned a verdict in favor of Young Basile client IXL Learning, Inc. of San Mateo, California. The EEOC and former employee Adrian Scott Duane contended that IXL fired Duane, a transgender man, from his position as a product analyst in January 2015 because he had complained online about the company’s treatment of minority and disabled employees.  Young Basile Litigation Department Chair Jeff Wilson led the defense. He said that IXL considered the matter “a false and malicious attack on the company’s products, managers, recruiting practices and the CEO, and fired him immediately for doing so.”
