Director of the YB Patent Apprenticeship
Mr. Pate is the director of the YB Patent Apprenticeship, which is a unique, year-round, employment opportunity for law students. The apprenticeship builds core competencies in patent law, so law students can contribute in meaningful ways during law school and be better prepared for practice at Young Basile when they graduate. As director, Mr. Pate provides training, mentorship, and one-on-one feedback on each student’s journey from trainee to practitioner.
Before entering the legal profession, Mr. Pate worked at the Utah State University Space Dynamics Laboratory where he assisted in the fabrication of radiation shielding and its application to the SABER instrument (an earth orbiting infrared instrument launched in December 2001) and performed thermal conductivity analysis used to design conductive heat sinks for cooling circuit boards.
