Mr. Donohue is a registered patent attorney with 20 years of experience in intellectual property law. He has prepared and prosecuted patents in a diverse range of fields including automotive technologies, medical imaging, robotics, entertainment systems and sporting goods technologies. His litigation experience includes trials before the Easter District of Michigan, the Northern District of Illinois, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of Texas and appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is also admitted before the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Donohue has handled post-grant proceedings including reexaminations, inter-parties reexaminations, and covered business methods and has defended the PTAB holdings before the Federal Circuit.  He has provided numerous opinions on infringement and validity to clients.  He has managed the U.S. intellectual property portfolio for a top tier automotive supplier including managing over 200 pending patent applications, advising in-house counsel about intellectual property strategies, applying intellectual property to guide development of new products, and coordinating U.S. strategies with European counsel.  He has also acted as U.S. intellectual property counsel for a foreign automotive interiors corporation including managing pending patent applications and advising clients on intellectual property strategies.

Mr. Donohue’s trademark experience includes representing a prominent musician and his recording label in a trademark action against former band members resulting in securing for the client the exclusive right to use the name and the exclusive right to merchandising. He has handled numerous trademark opposition proceedings.  He has also represented clients in trade dress infringement actions.
