Mr. Gelman concentrates his intellectual property practice on counseling clients in patent matters, including global patent portfolio strategy and obtaining utility patent protection. He regularly counsels clients, from Fortune 500 companies to startups, in a range of industries and technical disciplines, including software, hardware, processors, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cellular telephone technologies, wireless local area network technologies, video processing software/hardware, cable set-top boxes, cable modems, and various mechanical arts.
Mr. Gelman brings both in-house and private practice perspectives to all matters. Prior to joining Young Basile, he was an Assistant General Counsel at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. where he managed the company’s portfolio of processor-related patents. During his time as an in-house counsel, he managed outside counsel who prepared and prosecuted patent applications for software, hardware, processors, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, covering approximately 5,000 patents worldwide. He conducted internal patent harvests and patent committee meetings to identify and evaluate inventions in a broad range of technology, resulting in 10% YoY growth in invention submissions.
