Mr. Jang concentrates his efforts in patent preparation and prosecution and assists the firm in intellectual property matters. Mr. Jang works in a variety of technologies including chemicals, materials, electronics, semiconductors, telecommunications, and medical devices.

Industry Experience

Prior to law school, Mr. Jang worked for a global biopharmaceutical company’s patent strategy team. Mr. Jang assisted in patent clearance searches for biopharmaceutical product launch, and biopharma patent litigation including The Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (“BPCIA”) and patent invalidations proceedings.

Professional Activities

Mr. Jang also served in the Republic of Korea Air Force. Mr. Jang served as a Chemical Operations Officer (First Lieutenant). While serving as an officer, he was awarded a certificate of appreciation for his meritorious achievement and excellence in service, which is awarded annually to one company grade officer in each unit.

While at Law School, Mr. Jang gained significant IP-related experience including patent prosecution and trademark preparation. Particularly, Mr. Jang was heavily involved in IP matters while he was working at AI-software company, local boutique firm, non-profit research hospital, and Young Basile. Mr. Jang also participated in Law School IP Clinic, where he worked directly with university based startup companies by researching, analyzing, and advising them regarding preparation of trademark and patent applications. As a result of his active engagement and academic excellence in Patent Law, Mr. Jang won “The Joseph M. Barich Excellence in Patent Law Award,” which is awarded annually to one third-year law student who has demonstrated interest and accomplishment in Patent Law.
